Before Kenso sends anything about you to an AI provider, it shows a consent screen explaining what's sent and to whom. Nothing goes out until you accept, and you can withdraw at any time.
Where to find it
The consent screen opens automatically the first time you use an AI feature: coach chat, the daily insight, and so on. You can also open it anytime from Settings → Health & Connections → AI coaching.
What is sent
Kenso sends the following to two AI providers, OpenAI and Anthropic:
- Training profile: goals, experience level, injuries, and where you train.
- Workout history: logged sets, personal records, and your active program.
- What you share with the coach: messages you type or dictate, and any photo you send, including a program you import from a picture or PDF.
- Recovery signals: HRV, sleep, resting heart rate, and body weight, only while "Health data for AI" is also on in Settings.
Where it goes
Your data goes to OpenAI and Anthropic, through their business APIs. Under those terms, neither trains its models on your data. Your email and password are never sent.
Turning it off
Toggle AI coaching off from Settings → Health & Connections at any time. This withdraws consent immediately, and nothing further is sent to either provider.
Good to know
- Declining on the consent screen leaves the coach's message box disabled, with a card offering to turn AI coaching on when you're ready.
- "Health data for AI" is a separate, narrower switch (see Health data for AI) that only matters once AI coaching itself is on.
- For a broader picture of what Kenso collects and your controls over it, see What Kenso collects, and your controls.
