Kenso stores your workouts on your device first and sends them to the server in the background, so you can log a full session with no connection at all. Settings shows a sync status line so you can see whether anything is still waiting to go up.
Where to find it
Settings → Data & Sync, near the top of the section.
How offline logging works
Everything you log (sets, weights, reps, finishing a workout) is saved to your device immediately, whether or not you're online. When a connection is available, Kenso sends those changes to the server automatically. Guest accounts (not signed in) work entirely on-device and never sync, since there's no account to sync to.
Reading the sync status
The status line in Data & Sync shows one of three states:
- All data synced: nothing is waiting; the server has everything your device does.
- N items syncing…: one or more changes are queued and will go up automatically the next time you're online.
- N items failed to sync: Kenso tried and couldn't get one or more changes through. A Retry button appears next to this state; tapping it puts the failed items back in the queue to try again.
If a workout looks stale
Occasionally a workout finished on another device, or a value edited moments ago, won't show up right away on the screen you're looking at. Pull down to refresh, or use the refresh button on the History page: this re-pulls the latest data from the server without discarding anything you have locally. If the sync status shows failed items, retry those first, since a stale screen is often waiting on a sync that hasn't gone through yet.
Good to know
- Losing your connection mid-workout doesn't lose your sets: they live on your device until you finish the workout, at which point they queue to sync like anything else.
- Force-quitting the app doesn't clear anything already saved locally, but it's best to let a workout finish syncing before doing anything that could interrupt it, like reinstalling the app.
