Connecting Whoop lets Kenso read your Whoop recovery score, HRV, resting heart rate, blood oxygen, sleep, and day strain, and fold them into your readiness and training-load readings. It's available to anyone, on web or the iPhone app.

Where to find it

Settings → Health & Connections → Whoop → Connect.

Connecting

Tapping Connect opens Whoop's own consent screen (in your browser on web, or the system browser on the native app) where you sign in and approve access. After you approve, you're returned to Kenso and the connection shows as active. Kenso stores the access tokens it's given and pulls your recent Whoop history right away.

What syncs

Recovery score, HRV, resting heart rate, blood oxygen, sleep, and day strain. Whoop's own recovery score is trusted as-is rather than recalculated: Kenso doesn't second-guess Whoop's number, it uses it directly as one of the signals behind your readiness reading.

How Whoop strain factors into training load

Whoop's day strain reading acts as a floor under Kenso's own training-load number for that day: Kenso's load can read higher than Whoop's strain if your logged training pushes it there, but it won't read lower than what Whoop measured. This means a hard day on the Whoop strap that didn't come from a logged Kenso workout (say, a hike or a sport) still shows up in your training load for the day.

Reconnecting and disconnecting

If Whoop's connection expires (usually after a long period without opening Kenso), the Whoop card in Settings shows "Connection expired"; tap it and reconnect the same way you did the first time. To stop syncing entirely, tap Disconnect from the same card. Disconnecting revokes Kenso's access and stops all further syncing; it doesn't touch anything already recorded in your Whoop account.

Good to know

  • You can sync on demand with the Sync now button next to the Whoop card, in addition to the syncing Kenso already does automatically.
  • Whoop can also back-fill your bodyweight if Kenso doesn't already have one on file.
  • If you connect both Whoop and Oura (or Apple Health), see Apple Health, Oura, and Whoop together for how Kenso picks between them.
