Sync Apple Health has three levels that control how much of your health data is allowed to leave your iPhone. Moving to a more restricted level deletes the data Kenso already holds on its servers, not only future syncing.
Where to find it
Settings → Health & Connections → Sync Apple Health (only shown once Apple Health is connected).
The three sync levels
- Everywhere: recovery and biometrics show up in Kenso on the web and in the Kenso app for ChatGPT, as well as on your phone.
- Training only: weight, age, and workout heart rate keep syncing so Strength Score and training load work everywhere. Your HRV, sleep, and steps stay on your iPhone. A connected Oura or Whoop keeps syncing on this setting.
- On device: Kenso stores no health data on its servers at all. Apple Health stays on your iPhone, and a connected Oura or Whoop stops syncing to Kenso too. Your coach still sees today's numbers while you're chatting.
What gets deleted when you restrict it
Switching to a more restricted level shows a confirmation naming exactly what it deletes. Moving to Training only removes the daily HRV, sleep, steps, and body metrics already on Kenso's servers. Moving to On device removes all of that plus any Oura or Whoop history Kenso holds, though your data stays safe in the Oura or Whoop app itself.
Switching back
If you switch to a wider sync level later, Apple Health re-syncs only the last 30 days from your iPhone. Anything older that was deleted is gone for good; this move can't be undone.
Good to know
- A connected Oura or Whoop re-syncs on its own once you switch back to a level that allows it.
- This only affects what leaves your device: it doesn't touch data already in the Apple Health, Oura, or Whoop apps themselves.
