Kenso can read back in a workout file you exported earlier: your own previous Kenso export, or a CSV from Strong or Hevy. Upload the file, review what Kenso found, and confirm before anything is added to your history.
Where to find it
Settings → Data & Sync → Import Workouts.
Importing a file
Drop your file onto the upload area or tap to browse for it. Kenso accepts CSV or JSON files up to 10MB and detects the format automatically: a previous Kenso export, or a Strong or Hevy CSV (see Import from Hevy and Import from Strong for those apps' exact export steps).
After the file is read, Kenso shows a preview: how many workouts, exercises, and sets it found, plus the first few workouts by name and date. If any exercise names in the file don't match Kenso's library, they're listed separately. Sets using those exercises are skipped, everything else imports normally. Confirm to run the import, or go back and pick a different file.
Repeat imports and duplicates
Importing the same source a second time is a top-up, not a re-import of everything: Kenso checks what's already in your history and only brings in the new workouts since your last import from that source. The preview tells you how many were skipped as duplicates before you confirm.
After importing
Once the import finishes, Kenso shows what it found in your training and, if you imported six or more workouts, offers to turn that history into a program. Building a program from imported history is a separate step with its own free allowance. See Bring your training history into Kenso for that limit; importing the raw workout data itself has no cap on how many times you can do it.
Good to know
- The file must be CSV or JSON: other formats are rejected before upload completes.
- Import runs in the background once you confirm; leaving the dialog open shows progress messages until it's done.
- If an import fails, check History before retrying. A repeat import from the same file only brings in what's still missing, so it's safe to try again.
