Wherever you can pick an exercise, Kenso can also suggest a replacement for it (ranked by how close a match it is), or you can browse the full library and choose anything yourself.

Where to find it

While logging, open an exercise's ⋮ menu and tap Swap. From the exercise library, suggestions appear automatically at the top when you open the Replace flow for a specific exercise.

Suggested swaps

Suggestions are grouped into three tiers: Best Match, Similar, and Same Muscle, from closest replacement down to "works the same muscle." Tap any suggestion to swap it in immediately.

Browsing everything

Tap Browse All Exercises to open the full library instead, pre-filtered to the muscle group of the exercise you're replacing. Suggested and recently used exercises are grouped at the top of that list; clear the filter to see the entire catalog.

Why swap

The most common reasons are equipment (the machine you'd normally use is taken or your gym doesn't have it) or working around a joint or movement that's bothering you that day. Suggestions lean toward exercises that train the same muscle in a similar way, so swapping shouldn't derail what that exercise was there to do.

Good to know

  • Swapping mid-workout replaces the exercise for that session. See Change exercises mid-workout for what happens to your program afterward.
  • Browsing shows your custom exercises alongside the built-in library, each marked with its Custom badge, so a movement you added yourself is available as a swap target too.
  • Suggestions and the full catalog both show each exercise's Kenso tier badge. See Exercise tiers.
