A hard set is a working set logged at an effort high enough to actually drive growth: not a warm-up, not a set you stopped well short of your limit. Kenso reads this from the RPE or RIR you log on a set. It credits the muscle you're primarily training in full, and any secondary muscles that set also worked get partial credit rather than a full count. If a set has no RPE logged, Kenso still counts it as a working set rather than throwing it out.
What to do
- Log an RPE or RIR on your sets if you want the hard-set count to be exact, especially near the top of your rep range.
- Check a muscle's weekly hard-set count on the Strength Score's Muscle view to see what's counting and why.
- Don't worry about occasional missing RPE: Kenso still counts the set, without the extra precision.
