A deload is a deliberately lighter session used to recover without losing your place in a program. Kenso can apply one to a single exercise, to your whole workout, or automatically at the end of an Auto-Progress cycle.

Where to find it

To deload one exercise: open the ⋮ menu on its exercise card during a workout and tap Deload. A "Deload" badge appears on the card while it's on. To deload the entire session, use the Deload toggle at the top of the logger. See Deloading a session for that flow, including how to change how much it drops your targets by.

What it does

Turning Deload on for an exercise drops its remaining targets for that session and skips progression: the exercise won't advance based on this session's sets. The badge's tooltip spells this out directly: targets drop by 35% and progression is skipped for the session. Turning it off restores your original targets.

The whole-session toggle works the same way across every exercise at once, and its drop amount is editable on screen (35% by default, adjustable per session) rather than fixed.

Automatic deloads

If a program has Auto-Progress enabled with auto-deload turned on, the final week of each cycle is a built-in lighter week before the next cycle starts. You don't need to toggle anything yourself. See Auto-progress cycles for what that week changes.

Good to know

  • Deloading an exercise or session only affects that session's targets and progression; it doesn't change your assigned strategy or rep range.
  • You can turn Deload off mid-session if you change your mind; your original targets come back.
  • Deloading is a per-session choice; it doesn't schedule future sessions or change how the program is built.
