There's nothing to tap to pause. You can leave the logger (switch apps, lock your phone, go back to Home) and your workout stays open in the background. Home shows a banner for it the whole time it's open, and tapping Start Workout again offers to resume it if you don't go straight back in.

Where to find it

Whenever you have a workout in progress, Home shows a compact banner below the readiness dials with the workout's name and elapsed time. Tap it to jump straight back into the logger. The banner also has its own Discard and Finish buttons, so you can end or save the workout without opening the logger at all; Finish opens a duration-and-effort dialog similar to the logger's. If you instead try to start a different workout, the "Unfinished Workout" prompt (Resume workout / Start new workout / Cancel) is the fallback. See Workout conflicts.

If you want to abandon it instead

Tap Discard on Home's banner, or open the logger's three-dot menu and tap Discard workout. Either way, this permanently deletes everything logged in that session. There's a confirmation step first, and it can't be undone.

Good to know

  • Kenso records each set on your device first, then backs it up to the server a few seconds later while you're still training. It doesn't wait until you tap Finish. If you delete and reinstall the app on the same account, Kenso can rebuild an in-progress workout from that server copy, so a reinstall doesn't automatically mean losing it.
  • Guest-mode workouts are the exception: nothing is backed up to a server for guests, so the workout only exists on that device until you finish it or sign up for an account.
  • If you go offline mid-workout, your sets still queue up locally and sync to the server automatically once you're back online. You don't need to do anything.
  • The one real risk is the last few seconds of edits right before a hard close, force-quit, or clearing your browser's site data. Those can be lost if they hadn't synced yet. Backgrounding the app (switching apps, locking your phone) is always safe.
