Rest Mode tells Kenso you're deliberately taking time off (a planned deload week, an injury, travel, or anything else) so the coach stops nudging you to train and shifts toward recovery guidance instead.

Where to find it

Settings → Preferences → Rest Mode (toggle).

What changes when it's on

With Rest Mode on, the daily coach insight and any training nudges shift tone: instead of encouraging you to get a session in, the coach leans toward recovery advice suited to time off. It doesn't lock you out of logging a workout if you decide to train anyway: it's a signal to the coach, not a restriction on the app.

Turning it off

Flip the same toggle off in Settings → Preferences whenever you're ready to resume normal training, and the coach and nudges return to their usual behavior. There's no automatic expiry: Rest Mode stays on until you turn it off yourself, so it's worth remembering to switch it back when your time off ends.

Why you might use it

Rest Mode is meant for stretches where you know in advance you won't be training as usual (a planned week off, recovering from an illness or minor injury, or a busy travel stretch) and you'd rather the coach not treat every day as a missed session. It's a lighter touch than pausing a program outright, since your program and progression stay exactly where you left them.

Good to know

  • Rest Mode is separate from a program deload: you can be mid-program and still turn Rest Mode on if you're taking unplanned time off. See Deload a session or a single exercise if what you actually want is to ease off one workout rather than pause nudges entirely.
  • It affects coach tone and nudges, not your recovery readings: your readiness score and muscle recovery map keep working the same way whether Rest Mode is on or off.
