Completing a set starts a countdown pill at the bottom of the screen automatically. Tap it to expand the full timer with pause, restart, and +/- controls, or tap the X to dismiss it early.

Where to find it

The timer pill appears on its own after you check off a set. There's nothing to turn on. To change how long it runs for a specific exercise, open that exercise's three-dot menu and tap Rest timer.

Setting a rest time per exercise

The Rest timer screen shows the current rest time with minus and plus buttons that step it by 30 seconds. Until you change it, an exercise uses Kenso's default rest time; once you adjust it, that time is saved for that exercise and reused every time you train it again, in any workout. A "Use my default instead" option clears your custom value and goes back to the default.

Good to know

  • This per-exercise setting isn't available for custom exercises you've added yourself. The menu shows "Not available for custom exercises," because the setting is tied to the exercise's library entry, which a custom exercise doesn't have.
  • On some builds, the countdown shown on your iPhone's lock screen or Dynamic Island can briefly show the wrong duration for the exercise you finished. If that happens, check the timer inside the app, which is accurate. See Why is my lock-screen rest timer wrong?
  • The timer keeps running if you background the app or lock your phone, but it doesn't survive navigating away from the logger to another screen inside Kenso. It's tied to that logger session.
