The letter badge next to an exercise (S, A, B, or C) is Kenso's tier rating for that movement, with S as the top tier and C the lowest. It's a quick read on how good an exercise generally is, not a judgment on whether you should be doing it.
Where to find it
Every exercise shows its tier badge in the exercise library, in swap suggestions, and on its expanded detail card.
What goes into it
Kenso rates each exercise on several qualities: how much muscle stimulus it delivers, how much stretch it puts the target muscle under, how stable the movement is, how easy it is to progress the load over time, how much fatigue it costs relative to the work done, how joint-friendly it is, and how much skill it takes to perform well. The tier badge is a combined read on those qualities together, not any single one of them.
Sorting by tier
In the exercise library, toggle Sort from A–Z to Tier to see the best-rated exercises for your current muscle and equipment filter first.
Good to know
- Tier reflects exercise quality in general, not your personal history with it. Your best lifts and consistency on a movement don't change its tier.
- Custom exercises you add yourself don't get a tier badge: tiering only applies to the built-in library.
- A lower tier doesn't mean skip it. Equipment access, injury history, and what you actually enjoy training all matter more than a letter grade.
