However you train, a workout starts the same way: tap Start Workout on the card at the top of Home. What's on that card depends on your program: a scheduled program day, or (in Freestyle mode) whichever tile you've picked from the library row.

Where to find it

Home's top card always shows what you're about to do next, with a Start Workout button. If you're on a structured program, that's today's scheduled day. If you're in Freestyle mode, it's whatever tile is selected below the card: Flexible, Smart, a suggested workout, or one of your own recent sessions.

Picking something else

Below the main card, a row of small tiles lets you swap what you're about to start without leaving Home: Flexible (build the session live), Smart (a suggested session based on your recent training), any canned workouts marked Suggested, and your own recently logged sessions. Tap a tile to preview it on the card above, then tap Start Workout.

What happens when you tap Start

Kenso opens the workout logger with that session's exercises already loaded (or empty, for Flexible). If a location picker is available for your program, you can set where you're training before or after starting. See Training locations.

Good to know

  • If you already have an unfinished workout, tapping Start Workout doesn't lose it. Kenso asks whether to resume that session or start a new one. See Workout conflicts.
  • Starting cardio while a strength workout is in progress (or the reverse) triggers the same kind of prompt, since Kenso tracks one active session per type at a time.
  • Once you're in the logger, see A tour of the workout logger for what everything on screen does.
